Les thérapeutiques endovasculaires sont l'avenir... et l'avenir c'est maintenant !
Avec d'autres nous avions pressenti cette révolution et c'est pour cela que nous avons organisé le premier symposium de chirurgie endovasculaire à Ajaccio en 1994. Notre but était de réunir chaque année un nombre limité de spécialistes, cardiologues, radiologues et chirurgiens impliqués dans ces nouvelles technologies.
Cette formule originale a fait le succès de ce symposium qui a atteint une dimension internationale, avec la participation interactive des plus éminents spécialistes au monde et des managers de l'industrie à la recherche d'un consensus et de "guidelines" pour les indications thérapeutiques.
Cette année nous célèbrerons le 10ème anniversaire du Symposium ! nous concentrerons notre attention sur les maladies occlusives de l'aorte et des fémorales en envisageant les techniques, les indications, les
résultats et les complications des techniques endovasculaires. De plus nous reviendrons sur trois questions controversées : le traitement des AAAs rompus, des lésions rénales et viscérales et des anévrysmes thoraciques. Enfin une session sera consacrée à des cas inhabituels qui seront discutés avec les experts.
Un résumé de nos discussions sera fait à la fin du symposium, mentionnant les sujets de consensus et de controverses. Il sera publié dans une revue internationale pour servir de référence à tous les praticiens s'interressant à l'endovasculaire.
Comme d'habitude, le nombre de participants est limité à 150 pour garder au Workshop son efficacité et son originalité dans un cadre enchanteur propice à la fois au travail et à la détente.

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
ON ENDOVASCULAR SURGER
Endovascular therapy is the future and the future is now !
Anticipating this revolution in the management of vascular disease, we organised in 1994 the first International Workshop on Endovascular Therapy in Ajaccio. Our goal was to bring together a small but select number of surgeons, radiologists and cardiologists who shared our interest in this evolving technology.
This unique formula has ensured the continuing success of the workshop which has evolved to become the leading forum for debate about endovascular issues. With the active participation of our industrial partners, the world's leading endovascular specialists strive to reach consensus and establish guidelines for endovascular practice. This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of that first workshop ! The focus this year will be on peripheral interventions for occlusive disease of both the aortoiliac and femorodistal segments. We will examine techniques, indications, results and complications. We will also discuss and attempt to reach consensus on three major controversies endovascular management of ruptured AAAs, of thoracic aneurysms and visceral ischaemia. A session will be devoted to unusual treatments of unusual conditions and of course the usual lively debate between masters of persuasion and argument.
The Workshop will conclude with an analysis and summary of the issues discussed, identifying areas of agreement and recommendations for clinical practice as well as issues that remain unresolved. This summary will be published in a peer reviewed journal to serve as a reference text for all involved in this exciting field.
As is our custom, registration for the workshop will be limited to 150 participants. This small, select group will be able to enjoy not only the ambiance of this charming island paradise but also interact with colleagues and Faculty in an atmosphere most conducive to both work and leisure activities.
